Morphological description
Basidiomata small- tomedium-sized. Pileus 3–7 cm diam, sub-hemispherical, then convex to applanate, margin recurved; surface dry, tomentose, rugulose, or pitted, red, fiery-red (12A8), to dark red (12B8); context about 0.5 cm in thick in the center of the pileus, yellowish (2A6), turning bluish when bruised. Hymenophore poroid, nearly adnate to slightly depressed around apex of stipe; pores angular, 1– 2 mm diam, yellow (2A5), turning bluish when bruised; tubes about 0.3 cm in length, pale yellow (2A7), turning bluish when bruised. Stipe 3–6 × 0.6–1 cm, central, subcylindrical, solid; surface longitudinally fibrillose, reddish (9A6) to fieryred (9B8); context yellowish (1A6), turning bluish when bruised; annulus absent; basal mycelium yellow (1A7). Odor indistinct.
Basidia 28–39 × 9–15 μm, clavate, thin-walled, 4-spored, colorless in KOH; sterigmata 4–5 μm long. Basidiospores [60/3/2] (8–) 8.5–11 × 4–5 μm, Q = (1.7–) 1.8–2.5, Qm =2.04 ± 0.19, subfusiform to ellipsoid, slightly thick-walled (up to 0.5 μm), olive brown to yellowish brown in KOH, smooth. Hymenophoral trama boletoid, composed of thintoslightlythick-walled(up to0.5 μm) hyphae, 5–10μm wide, colorless in KOH. Cheilocystidia 36–60 × 9–16 μm, subfusiform to fusiform, thin-walled, yellowish in KOH, no encrustations. Pleurocystidia 54–71 × 9–21 μm, subfusiform to fusiform, thin-walled, colorless in KOH, no encrustation. Pileipellis a trichoderm 200–260 μm in thickness, composed of chains of subglobose or subcylindrical cells up to 13 μm in width; terminal cell (5–)11–32 × 9–13 μm, subglobose, wide clavate and subcylindrical, with obtuse apex. Pileal trama made up of hyphae 5–10 μm in diameter, slightly thickwalled (up to 0.5 μm), yellowish to yellowish brown in KOH. Stipitipellis a trichoderm-like structure about 120 μm in thickness, composed of thin- to slightly thick-walled (up to 0.5 μm), 6–12 μm wide, colorless toyellowish inKOH, emergent hyphae with subfusiform, fusiform or clavate terminal cells (12–31 × 6–12 μm), and occasionally with clavate, 4spored basidia. Stipe trama composed of cylindrical, parallel hyphae, 5–8 μm wide, yellowish in KOH. Clamp connections absent in all tissues.
Habitat: Gregarious on the ground of a lawn.
Distribution: In Eastern China (Zhejiang Province).
